Custom Suspension Built
and Valved for Your Car

Custom-built Coilovers and Dampers for road, track and competition, with spring rates and valving tailored to your car.

Road • Track • Competition

NO TWO CARS ARE THE SAME Your suspension shouldn’t be either.

Every Thunderlane kit is specified around the individual car, taking into account vehicle weight, tyre choice, ride height, modifications and intended use. Spring rates and damper valving are then selected to suit, rather than relying on one generic setup for every application.

Frequently asked questions

What makes Thunderlane different from cheaper coilovers?

Many cheaper coilovers use one fixed spring and damper specification for every version of a car. Thunderlane kits are built around the individual vehicle, with spring rates and damper valving selected to suit its weight, tyres, modifications and intended use.

They are also fully rebuildable, revalveable and individually dyno tested, so the suspension can be serviced or adapted as the car develops rather than treated as a disposable product.

Where are Thunderlane coilovers built?

Thunderlane coilovers are manufcatured in Poland and built to order for each application. Rather than pulling a generic kit from stock, every setup is specified around the vehicle, intended use, tyres, ride height and modifications before being assembled and tested.

UK based setup advice and support is also available.

Why does damper dyno testing matter?

A damper dyno measures the force produced by the damper throughout its operating range. This allows us to confirm that the finished damper matches the intended valving specification, that left and right dampers are closely matched, and that the adjuster produces a consistent and repeatable change.

Without testing, there is no reliable way to know whether a damper performs as designed simply by looking at it.

Do I need to be a race engineer to use the adjusters?

No. Thunderlane adjusters are designed to provide a useful, understandable tuning range rather than an unnecessarily large number of confusing settings.

The damper internals are developed so that each click produces a meaningful and consistent change, allowing small adjustments to fine-tune the car’s response, balance and body control.

Our 1-way kits adjust rebound only, while compression damping remains fixed within the damper specification. Although having fewer adjustments may sound limiting, changing one variable at a time makes setup easier to understand and gives the driver a more focused, effective tuning tool.

How are the spring rates and damper valving selected?

The specification is chosen using information about the vehicle, including its weight, weight distribution, tyres, intended ride height, modifications and how it will be driven.

A standard road car on normal tyres requires a different setup from a stripped track car running aero and slicks. Selecting the spring rates and valving around the complete vehicle produces a more balanced result than applying one universal specification.

Are Thunderlane coilovers suitable for road use?

Yes. A coilover does not need to be excessively stiff or uncomfortable to provide improved control.

For road applications, the spring rates and valving can be selected to retain compliance over uneven surfaces while improving body control, steering response and stability. The setup can also be tailored for mixed road and track use where a sensible compromise is required.

Can Thunderlane coilovers be used for both road and track?

Yes. Mixed-use kits can be specified for customers who regularly drive their car on the road but also attend track days.

The exact setup will depend on the tyres, vehicle weight, road conditions and how heavily the car is used on track. We will discuss the compromises involved and select a specification that remains usable in both environments.

Will the coilovers make my car uncomfortable?

Not necessarily. Ride quality is influenced by spring rate, damper valving, bump stops, suspension travel, tyre choice and ride height - not simply whether the car has coilovers.

A properly selected setup can provide better body control without becoming harsh. Problems usually occur when a car is fitted with excessive spring rates, poor damping or is lowered beyond the suspension’s usable travel.

How long does a built-to-order kit take?

Most Thunderlane kits are built and dispatched within approximately four to eight weeks. Lead times can vary depending on the application, specification and parts availability.

Because each kit is built, valved and tested to order, unusual or highly customised applications may require additional time.
